Unisure Insurance Instant Application

We designed a seamless, responsive online application for Unisure Group that simplifies international life insurance onboarding through smart logic, conversational flow, and reduced paperwork.

Project Overview

Unisure Group approached us with a clear goal: to transition away from cumbersome paper-based insurance applications and create a streamlined, digital experience. The project aimed to significantly reduce assessment time, accelerate onboarding, and ultimately modernize how international individual life insurance is accessed.

Designed as a web application responsive across devices, the new platform primarily targets brokers and globally mobile individuals, those who often relocate or travel between countries. While user-friendly on both desktop and mobile, it had to comply with strict risk assessment criteria without compromising user experience.

One of the biggest challenges was simplifying a lengthy and complex questionnaire, vital for underwriting, without removing any essential components.

We began with comprehensive user research to understand the needs, motivations, and pain points of potential app users:

Stakeholder Interviews

We conducted discovery interviews with underwriters and project managers. The aim was to deeply understand the insurance process, the logic behind each question, and the desired user flow.

Information Architecture

We created a user-centered information architecture that prioritized the most important features and created intuitive navigation paths.

Wireframing & Prototyping

Using Figma, we created wireframes and clickable prototypes. We collaborated closely with product managers, business analysts, and underwriters to iterate quickly and ensure the designs matched both user needs and business logic.

Visual Design System

We created a nature-inspired visual design system with a focus on accessibility and clarity:

Color Palette

We used the company’s corporate identity colors, blue and orange, with orange buttons to highlight key actions. Generous use of white space kept each slide clean and focused.

Typography & Icons

Century Gothic, the brand’s chosen font, ensured visual consistency. Icons were selected carefully to be globally understandable, culturally neutral, and visually aligned with the clean, minimal UI.

Key Interface Features

Fewer Questions per Slide

Displaying fewer questions per slide creates a calm, conversational experience that keeps users engaged and focused throughout the application.

Progress Bar and Section Indicators

Providing users with a clear sense of direction and completion, making the application journey feel structured and achievable.

The Results

The initial MVP was met with strong enthusiasm, especially from brokers who now enjoy reduced paperwork and faster turnaround. They can easily share an application link with clients, and the rest of the process is done online.

While full metrics are still being gathered, the digital transformation has already begun making a tangible impact on usability and process efficiency.

This project completely transformed how we onboard individual clients. The new digital experience is fast, intuitive, and easy for both brokers and clients to use, helping us modernize without losing the necessary depth in our application process.
